Healing Laser for Dental/Facial Disorders
The Ultimate Holistic Approach To Medicine & Dentistry!!! Biostimulation Lasers, a.k.a. Healing/Non Ablative Lasers
An Exciting New Treatment Not Offered Anywhere Else In This Area
Most people, dentists and physicians included, have never heard of this technology. They associate “lasers” with cutting tools or pointers. Cold lasers, properly called biostimulation lasers, or biomodulation lasers, are neither. You may see many on the internet, even being promoted by other doctors as useful healing instruments. Some say they can go through clothing and dark hair…..no way!!! Most are nothing more than useless laser pointers, or are so underpowered, or of inappropriate wavelength, that they are next to useless.
We Have the Ultimate Laser in Holistic Medicine and Dentistry
Dr. Rice uses continuous wave 1.2 – 4 watt lasers for collagen stimulation and deep healing problems, and the Nd:YAG laser onboard our Fotona LightWalker for low-level laser therapy (LLLT). In other settings, our dual wavelength lasers are capable of ablative/cutting action necessary in the treatment of gum disease, frenectomies, and cavities. We have had results which would appear to be impossible, or something from a STAR TREK movie.
The Biostimulation Effect
The application of high intensity, non-destructive laser light activates cellular physiology and collagen formation, promoting tissue healing and proliferation. It can activate circulating Stem Cells in your body to turn into whatever tissues are needed in the treated area. It activates receptors in the Mitochondria of your cells, which causes them to either start or speed-up production of ATP, the energy packets within your cells. ATP is like rechargeable batteries which your cells and body depend upon for function.
On a larger level, blood vessels in the treated area dilate (open up) to get more blood cells to the area for fighting infections and healing. Lymphatic vessels (your sewage system) also open to drain toxins, waste, and infections from the treated area. That is why swelling can be reduced even while the laser is being applied.

The list continues to grow. This is just the tip of the iceberg, the beginning of major things to come.
We are one of the first dental offices doing cold laser therapy in the Brentwood Franklin area. Our Lasers are FDA approved for these purposes.
Unlike the “low level” lasers, our lasers have peak powers way beyond the range of surgical lasers, yet maintaining a totally safe and gentle average power to do their healing work by design of the specific handpiece. That is because of the short 200 nanosecond pulse duration. Treatments are painless! It is their peak power that penetrates muscles, tendons, fascia, cartilage, and bone throughout the body.
Patients have been amazed by the fast results with pain relief, and swelling reduction. The reduction and elimination of swelling has been truly astonishing.
Treatments can be a single visit, or multiple treatments. It depends upon whether the problem is chronic and long-standing or an acute/new occurrence of a problem, and the age and overall health/resistance of the patient. Acute conditions for otherwise healthy individuals respond the quickest with the least amount of treatment.
*Herpes zoster – a.k.a. SHINGLES. Treated once at outset with ND:YAGG Biostimulation laser in-office. Brought lesions out and healed within days, avoiding prolonged pain and impairment. Obvious reduction of swelling and healing well 3 days later.*
REMEMBER: After treatment, drink plenty of water to flush out all of the toxins that are going to be released from the treated area. This is the pus from infected areas, lactic acid from muscles that were in spasm, etc., which are now going to be flushed through your freshly opened lymphatic vessels. How much water should you drink? Divide your weight in half. That number is the amount, in ounces, of water to drink, preferably between meals. Add an additional 16 to 24 ounces if you are also doing moderate to heavy exercise/activity during the day.

Frequently Asked Questions About Laser Dentistry
Is cold laser therapy safe?
Laser dentistry using the Fotona LightWalker is perfectly safe. This laser makes it possible for Dr. Rice to perform a range of dentistry procedures with far less pain, bleeding, inflammation, and disruption to nearby tissues than was ever before possible. Patients treated with this form of laser dentistry also enjoy a faster and more comfortable recovery.
What are additional benefits of this type of laser dentistry?
If you hate the sound of a dental drill, you’ll be relieved to learn that there is no noise (or smell) associated with this form of laser treatment. Most of our patients require no anesthesia shots for treatment with the LightWalker laser, and because the laser disinfects as it works, there is little to no risk of infection after treatment.
What are the side effects of cold laser therapy?
According to the FDA, there are no long-term side effects of treatment with low-level laser therapy (LLLT).
Is the Fotona LightWalker approved by the FDA?
Yes. The LightWalker laser system was approved by the FDA in 2017 for a wide range of dental treatments.
